Auction Settings - Proxy Bidding

What is Proxy Bidding?

Proxy bidding refers basically to the automatic type of bidding. In an auction, when you place a bid and another user outbids you, you need to again come back and bid higher in order to remain the highest bidder. To avoid coming back, you can use automatic bidding which bids on behalf of you when someone outbids you. You can initially enter the maximum amount with which you are comfortable with then our plugin will bid on behalf of you till that maximum amount is reached.

Plugin Settings

To enable the Proxy Bidding setting on your site then navigate to Auctions > Settings. on the Auction tab page, you will find the section of Proxy Auction Settings.

• Enable Proxy Bidding:
  • Enable Proxy Bidding:

    • Proxy Bidding (also known as Automatic Bidding) system makes bidding convenient so you don't have to keep coming back to re-bid every time someone places another bid. When you place a bid, you enter the maximum amount you're willing to pay for the item. The seller and other bidders do not know your maximum bid. We'll place bids on your behalf using the automatic bid increment amount, which is based on the current high bid. We'll bid only as much as necessary to make sure that you remain the high bidder or to meet the reserve price, up to your maximum amount.

    • Enable this option and the option to choose proxy bidding will display on the auction product edit page. Once you have enabled this configuration, then each auctioneer (admin or other users) while adding their auction will have "proxy bidding" enabled by default and they have to disable it if they don't want it. Enable the proxy-bidding option and you will get the text "This auction is under proxy bidding" on your auction product detail page like the below image.

    • If you enable the proxy-bidding option then an automatic bid increment amount will place.

    

  • Mask Username:
    • The plugin provides an option to mask the username. Admin can enable it if he/she doesn't want to show it inside the Auction Detail page. If you enable Mask Username for proxy bidding then it will add ****** to your name and not display full username to the public like the below image.
  • Mask Bid Amount:
    • The plugin provides an option to mask the Bid Amount also. Admin can enable it if he/she doesn't want to show it inside the Auction Detail page. If you enable Mask Bid Amount for proxy bidding then it will display ****** instead of the bid amount to the public like the below image.
  • Place bid on behalf of the first user if the maximum bid of the second user matches with the first user:
    • If User 1 has set a specific maximum bid and if User 2 comes and places the same maximum bid, then the plugin will show an alert message to user 2 and will place the bid on behalf of User 1 of the same amount as his maximum bid.

    For example.: User 1 sets place bid of Maximum =  £350.00 and User 2 places the same maximum bid then User 2 will get an alert message like the below image.
    And a bid place on behalf of User 1 of the same amount as his maximum bid.
